Hello, I am new to boas, I bought a Hog Island Boa in mid December. His name is Cyprus (no pics yet sorry). He is 2ish feet long (its so hard to measure him) and has penny size girth (not as hard to measure).
He is now ready to go off fuzzy mice, but I can't find anything inbetween fuzzys and large frozen mice in stores. I was going to order from ratsicles.com (I've heard good things about rats) but since shipping is around $30 an order and I am a little timid with the quantity to buy.
So the Question: Anyone have tips, suggestions, past experiences... How fast will he grow? I was planning on ordering 10 penny size and 10 quarter size... Would it take about 10 weeks for him to grow out of penny size food? I know this is a tough question and if I have to reorder and/or throw out/give away food I will obviously do it for my little baby, but I wanted some sort of reference point anyways. Thanks!!!!

Re: Rats Mice and Baby Boas
Fri, January 5, 2007 - 4:51 AMMy Brazilian Rainbow grew very quickly. SHe is now a year younger than my Ball Python and quite a bit longer. All I did was find hte smallest mice I could at the pet store. It's pretty easy as there are alway runts there. You'll have to do that for a few (5 or so) weeks and then if you're is anything like my little girl, normal small mice will be no problem. I actually never fed mine fuzzies. They did at teh pet store but I went right to very very small live mice. -
