I'll try to get some decent pics of her soon, no promises on when that'll be though since we have just moved and are still getting situated!
I have no idea how old Nephthys is. I got her in March of this year as a rescue from a really cool pet store. Cindy (pet store owner) got her from a customer of hers who didn't know what to do with Nephthys (I have no idea what her name was before I got her). This guy was in Florida and found her in a friend's backyard and no one knew where she came from or what she was, other than a snake. He took her to a pet store there to see what she was and what to do with her. They told him to put her in a tank and throw a rat in and she'd be fine and that she's a redtail. So that is what he did. Anyway, she apparently wasn't hungry and the rat chewed her up really bad. I don't know exactly how long he had her before he brought her to my pet store. He gave her to Cindy to "do something with" because he couldn't get her to eat or anything. Well, she was covered from head to toe in severe bites that were packed with shavings and infected. Cindy cleaned her up and treated her for about 3 months before I came in the shop and saw her. After the first time I saw her, I asked Cindy about her every time I came in the store (very frequently). Cindy finally asked me if I'd take her even though she was in such poor shape and not eating. Oh yes said I. So Nephthys came home and I treated her with some herbal stuff that I like to use and after about 3 weeks she started eating for me (frozen of course) and she has been a regular eater since. She has shed for me twice and with each shed is looking better and better. None of the bites are open these days, she just has a lot of nasty scars. She is about 7-8 feet long and when I weighed her last, she was 10 pounds.

If you could post another pic of her I may be able to tell you what kind of Boa she is. I need a good shot of the top of her body, one that shows me her saddles and top of her head (could be a close up of head).

I do not breed any of my snakes, never have and don't have the motivation to do so. I just enjoy them. Right now I have only one snake in the house that is mine and she is Nephthys, my boa. Her head is my avatar. I have been told by quite a few people that she is a red tail, but I'm not so sure about that. The only other boa that I've had before was a regular boa (Columbian, I suppose) and she looks so much like he did it isn't funny. The majority of my snake experience has been with pythons and colubrids, so I'm still learning the details about boas. Out of all the snakes I've had, Nephthys and Vassago have been my favorites. I'm not sure if I'll get another boa in the future, but I certainly enjoy time spent with Nephthys. When I can, I'll get some better pics of her and post them.
