Okay, so I have decided to adopt yet another snake (7 now!)-Red Tail boa (me loves them).
I asked this question before but wanted to know a tad more....
I have just invested in a huge tank and plan to house my 3 boa's together.....
How do I go about introducing a new snake into the tank without the start of fights????

Re: Snake Intros
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 7:07 PMYou are putting males and females together?
Snakes are solitary in the wild. They only come together to mate. And they should be of certain size and age maturity for that too, or it could really stress out a female.
And also feeding them together could be dangerous.

Mon, October 1, 2007 - 7:34 AMI have to agree, some animals want a herd but snakes are not among them. It may work OK for awhile but you will likely end up with only one left in the tank. You might test other options, a tank is not always the best solution, try converting a china hutch then put a screen barrier down the middle so that two can share an area. There is no need for expensive tanks, used china hutches work awsome.

Re: Snake Intros
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 10:39 AMI saw first hand what could happen when more than one snake is in the same tank, even though it was a big tank. I was at a local reptile store and they had two younger tiger retics in the same cage together. They were basically locked around each other and had to be pried apart. Thankfully no teeth were lost and only a small laceration was visible on either snake but infection could still be an issue. If this had happened at nigh one or both snakes could've been dead.
