Hi I'm new and I might be getting back a red tail boa I sold to a
friends bf a few years ago. I sold her cause at the time I had taken
in to many animals and the only option of food in alabama was live and
I feel bad for rats. I sold her to her bf at the time because I took
her word that he'd take care of her right, he never abused her but he
did start feeding her in her cage instead of the way I did it wich was
to put the mouse in the tub then the snake. she never bit me and she
wasn't head shy or anything. now if shes hungry and you reach in
she'll bite at ya. I'm hoping I can get her out of this and if
possable get her to eat the frozen as its available to me here in
washington. my friends just had a baby and heard noda from the ex that
origianly got the snake from me so shes asked if I'd like her back.
she'd have to be shipped and if anyone knows if this is possable let
me know please. shes about 5 or 6 ft now and I've got way less pets
these days so I would totally love to have her back as I've missed her
and regretted giving her up before. thanks for any advice anyone can
offer.

Yes it is totally possible to break her of that habit but you will prob end up getting bitten in the process of breaking her!! You will have to start feeding her in a diff cage and get her out and handle the snake everyday so that she gets it in her head that you are not food and eventually she will get over that and calm down but she might not like her head touched still?? But you never know until you try it!! Good luck and keep me posted!!

"and the only option of food in alabama was live and

I live in Alabama and have no problem finding frozen food for my snakes.
If shipping ends up being a problem, and the snake is is still in AL, I might
be able to help you find it a good home.

With a snake that size, it is going to be difficult to ship her. It will have to be over night and in a truck that doesnt get too hot in the back but also cant get too cold. DHL will NOT ship live animals. Just so you are aware. If you find someone to ship her then you will probably wind up paying a very large sum of money. It may be better to make a road trip out of it. Good luck and let us know what happens....

well its been awhile since I heard from her though she just had a new baby so not gonna harp on her. from what I found is fedex will ship but gotta be a certified shipper or delta dash will ship her. well I lived in dothan and auburn al and then I didn't know a place that had the frozen rats. petco carries it but they didn't have one of those. this snake is like speacial to the group of friends either me or wes can get it besides julia and I don't think should take her since he was the one who left her with me and pretty much abandoned her like a couple years ago so he can complain about julia having her all he wants hes not responsable enough to have her. I had her for a couple of years I'm moving back in 2 years probably will drive to make sure our pets get there. gonna try to fly her up here.

I'm in Alabama and can tell you that DSL overnited my Suriname and it was $44 for a 20 inch snake. If it was not agressive I woulsd be glad to help find a good home but I've had agressive larger Boas and a bite hurts like hell if they get a good one. I hate to think what it would cost to ship. Remember this, baby boas are worth more than an 8 foot snake unless you have a special variety like some of the Red Tails. Donate it to the Zoo in Montgomery and Buy a baby in Washington.
